ECONOMICS SYLLABUS

Mrs. Colvin – Room 6501

E-mail: EnglishTeachur@charter.net

Phone Number – 955-3353 ext. 26501

Office Hours: 10:15 – 11:00 A.M.

Textbook Economics: Principles & Practices, Gary Clayton, Glencoe, NY, NY; 1999; ISBN 0-02-823556-8

Course Requirements: Assignments must be turned in on time. Notes may be used on quizzes, but NOT on tests.

Web Site: WWW.EnglishTeachur.com should be revamped by the middle of September and ready for use. Students who sign the guest
book will receive one extra credit point; sorry, only one entry per day and this excludes weekends and holidays.

Absences: If you are absent, it is your responsibility to pick up any missed worksheets, which will have your name on them and will be in
your period box for missed assignments. Late assignments will not be accepted after five days; this includes missed tests and quizzes.
You must make arrangements to take tests and quizzes on your own time, either before or after school, or during lunch.

Rules and Procedures:

1. Do not interfere in the learning process, yours or any other students’.

2. Respect everything and everyone; take responsibility for yourself.

3. No throwing objects, or running around the room. Please remember you are Seniors!

4. No sleeping in class. If you can’t stay awake, I will have to send you to attendance so you can have your health checked.

5. Only books, paper, and writing instruments are to be on your desk. Backpacks, clothing, etc. are to be under your desk, NOT in the
aisle, please.

6. Having something to drink is a privilege afforded to adults who are capable of cleaning up their messes (throwing away the
receptacle containing the drink). A NO drinking policy will be enforced for all students if a few cannot respect their environment. There is
to be no eating in class.

7. Personal grooming items are not allowed to be used in class at any time, especially poisons such as perfume, cologne, nail polish,
etc. Some people are allergic to these items, and these items can cause serious illness to those people.

8. Electronic devices such as cell phones, CD players, DVD players, IPODS, MP3 players, or any other electronic device is only
permissible when you are doing work at your seat. They are NOT allowed
during discussions, lectures, tests, or quizzes.
Cell phones today afford too many opportunities to cheat; therefore, these objects will be confiscated if used during tests or quizzes.

9. Do not go behind the teacher’s desk or handle anything on the teacher’s desk unless invited to do so.

10. You are not excused until I excuse you. There is to be no gathering around the door at the end of class. I will inspect the floor
before I excuse you. Even if you did not make the mess, you need to help keep our room clean; it’s a part of the privilege of being
allowed to drink in the room.

11. Remove all hats, beanies, and any other headgear as you enter the room, fellows.

FINALS IN JANUARY

Please have your parent/guardian read this along with you. Your parent/guardian must send me an E-mail with
their name, phone number, and any questions they might have. In the ATTENTION box, please have them type your (student’s) full name
and class period. If they do not have E-mail access, they must fill out contact information on a 3 x 5 inch index card that you must return
to me. Ten bonus points awarded to each student whose parent responds.

I apologize to any parent who keeps tabs on student grades through the District’s web site; I use a more sophisticated grading program
than the District offers. If you E-mail me, I will respond as quickly as possible with your student’s progress: EnglishTeachur@charter.net
